The Crossroads Blues Society in Rockford, Illinois, will sponsor a benefit for the Lance Corporal Alec Catherwood Memorial Scholarship Fund on Saturday, January 15, 2011. The benefit will be at the American Legion Hall in Byron, Illinois, and will run from 7 to 11 p.m. JB Ritchie and the Power Blues Band will be playing some Chicago blues.
The evening will also feature silent auctions and raffles. The suggested donation to attend is $10 per person. All proceeds from the door and event go to the Alec Catherwood Memorial Scholarship Fund. Catherwood was killed in action in Afghanistan on October 14, 2010, and the scholarship fund was set up in his honor.
