About Blues Revue

Our History

I am proud to welcome you to the world of Blues Revue!
I am Chip Eagle, the publisher. You will find my regular column at the front of the magazine.

You will notice after a few issues that we don’t really consider Blues  Revue to be just a magazine. We believe that we have the important responsibility of connecting the Blues World. We consider our readers to be members of a tribe, a really special tribe of people around the world connected by the beat of the blues. Again, welcome to the tribe! As I often say, it’s a great tribe and the meetings are excellent.

Blues Revue was founded in 1991, so we are currently celebrating our twentieth year of publication. We cover the full spectrum of  the blues and work to include in each issue some historical information, some stars, some up and coming artists, some international coverage, and coverage of great shows. The best photographers in the blues grace our pages, many holding the highest awards for blues photography. Our back catalog is literally a who’s who of the blues.

We have several regular columns, including the popular column “Steady Rollin’” by the great guitarist Bob Margolin. Many readers say that this is the first thing they read in each issue. We also have a column by Roger Stolle, “Down In The Delta,” where Roger keeps us up to date on who and what is happening in the home of the blues.

In each issue we include between fifty and one hundred reviews of the latest blues CD and DVD releases. The most respected reviewers in the industry write these; blues artists around the world prize a good review in Blues Revue.

At least three times each years we include a Blues CD Sampler with your issue. We work hard to turn you onto music that you might not otherwise hear, as well as some treats from your favorite artists. Many readers feel that the Samplers are the best part of their subscription. We are not just
about the music; we are the music.

Blues Revue also sponsors some of the best blues festivals around the world. Festivals work hard to earn the right to have our name on their festivals and you can trust that if you see our name on it that you will have a good festival experience. Each year, in our March/April issue, we send our readers a directory of blues festivals around the world so you can plan your festival season. Like I said, the meetings are excellent!

The Blues Revue staff and our writers and photographers around the world work hard to make every issue a great blues experience. But there is more than just the magazine; through our sister publication BluesWax we provide a free, weekly online blues experience that includes great interviews, interesting articles, photographs, show reviews, news, and even more reviews. You can subscribe to that at www.bluesrevue.com. And you will want to “favorite” that site because we are constantly updating the site with news and cool videos in our Juke Joint. Every Friday the Juke Joint is updated with the best blues videos we can find.

We already are hard at work on next year’s issues and there are many exciting things happening at Blues Revue. We are proud to work for you and look forward to making the part of your life that is the blues the best it can be. We love to hear from you and the editorial staff discusses readers’ feedback.

So, again, welcome to the tribe. I look forward to seeing you in the future at one of the meetings along the blues trail. I look forward to hearing your blues story. Until then you can trust that we will send…

Good Blues To Ya!

Chip
