A team of music lovers have formed the “Amelia Island Blues Festival Committee.” They have set the ball rolling toward the September 2011 inaugural event. The Board of the Amelia Island Blues Festival Inc. consists of Susan Hurley, Jeff Malone, Jeff Barksdale, Marty Scott and Han Ramakers and they are excited to bring a growing interest in the blues to our beautiful island. The Committee, a bunch of pioneers trying to give life to a passion, are doing a great job preparing and organizing an event designed to turn into a major Blues Festival. Even though the cautioning words at an early committee meeting were “small steps”, the committee, the performers and fans of the genre are ready to turn the blues loose on Amelia Island.

The Board of Directors of the Amelia Island Blues Festival has just announced that Nassau Baptist Hospital has been selected as our annual benefactor for the two-day festival, scheduled for September 16 and 17, 2011.

The board is proud to select Nassau Baptist Hospital as our choice for financial support and encourages area residents to take advantage of early tickets sales in support of both a great musical event and our primary community health care provider, Baptist Medical Center.
