A. They spent over $10,000 flying themselves and their family here to Memphis. They were fine musicians who brought joy to many. They did not make it to the finals and did not expect to either. They were a gift as were many others who made the long voyage here to entertain us.

B. At least 75% of the IBC judges (a conservatively low number)have never written or produced an original and radio rotated song.

C. For years, including this one, I have heard numerous competitors select Albert King or SRV numbers for their sets.

D. We need to encourage bringing talent from the outside in to this city, genre and evolve within the 21st Century.

Ms. Marci – the Bleu Rascals were present as part of the Youth Showcase, a non-competitive opportunity to be part of IBC. This was the first year for anyone from the Philippines to participate in IBC, and I applaud these kids for coming all this way to play their versions of Johnny B. Goode and other well-known songs. I thought they dud a great job.
