The 23rd Internationales Bluesfest Eutin or ”Blues Baltica” was held May 17 – 20, in Eutin, Germany. It was my fourth visit and is one of the favorite festivals. There is a wonderful atmosphere created by organizer Helge Nickel and it is free. This year motto was “Blues from all continents” and it offered a worldwide unique program. Perhaps for the first time in the history of the blues this was a program with blues acts from all continents united at one festival: Asia (India), South America (Brazil), Europe (Denmark, Germany, Poland, and Sweden), North America (US, Canada), Africa (Cameroon and Morocco), and Australia. Among the fourteen or more acts, some of the most recognizable names were Cee Cee James, Colin Linden, Igor Prado, Shawn Pittman, and, of course, many Baltic artists.
Blues Baltica featured many great artists. Blues Revue and BluesWax Photographer Aigars Lapsa was there at this truly international festival. On this week’s Photo Page Aigars shares some of his many photographs from the festival, focusing on Colin Linden from Canada and Igor Prado from Brasil.

It was once again wonderful to meet Aigars in person and his wife! He takes some of the most memorable photographs in the business. I was honored that he blew one of me up from one of our shows at Ground Zero in Clarksdale.. a stunning photo, and had me sign it. Thank you Aigars. What a joy it was for us, Soulmate, to get the opportunity to perform at the 23rd Internationales Bluesfest Eutin, considering we come from a remote town called Shillong in India. While we have toured many places this experience was so intimate that it has left us inspired in many ways.

This is one of the most unique and welcoming festivals we have played at. A truly international lineup with everyone being treated as well as each other!
