Actually, I was speaking with someone from Austin about him recently. That must have been the deal. I discovered Slim Harpo and WLAC on the same night, while trying to tune in WTOP (1600 AM). BTW-The harmonica player in question was Mark Wenner of the Nighthawks. We met when I was working at Empire Music in 1974. Thanks for the heads up.

Met you a couple of times on a BC. With regards to Volume 1 Chess…..in the early 1990′s I wrote to MCI which was putting together a compilation of old Chess blues songs for release on CD’s. I asked them to include Larry Ligget’s “That Man is Walkin’” and one other song that now escapes my memory. Both made the list.

But Preston Foster, not Preston Hubbard, wrote Got My Mojo Workin’. Preston played bass with Roomful Of Blues and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. I’ve gotcha by a couple years, Billy, and I have those brain malfunctions all the time! Keep bringing music to life for all those who weren’t lucky enough to grow up when we did. WLAC was my beacon for years. Can’t find a source like that now but you’re the next best thing.
