Briggs Farm Blues Festival

July 6 & 7, 2012

Briggsville, Pennsylvania

Photographs by Joseph A. Rosen

The fifteenth annual Briggs Farm Blues Festival held in Pennsylvania featured a great lineup as usual. Artists on the Main Stage included included Eddie “The Chief” Clearwater, Alexis P. Suter, Chris Beard, Bernard Allison, Moreland and Arbuckle, and Rory Block. The Back Porch Stage featured more regional artists like Mikey Junior, Lonnie Shields, Michael Packer, and Symphonic Haze. But the highlight for everyone was a reunion of sorts of the The Butterfield Blues Band.

To commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the passing of Paul Butterfield, his son Gabriel organized a tribute to The Paul Butterfield Blues Band. As a drummer himself, Gabe was joined by original band member Sam Lay. Also in the band were Steve Guyger on harps and vocals, who’s harmonica playing has been compared to Paul Butterfield; Jimmy Vivino on guitar; keyboardist Pete Levin (who has performed and recorded with Annie Lennox and Miles Davis), bassist Jim Curtin (a former member of the band Orleans); and guitarist Jimmy Eppard, who was heavily featured on the band’s final studio album Jubilation and was a touring/performing member of The Band.

Of course, award-winning photographer Joe Rosen wasn’t going to miss out on that show! On this week’s Photo Page, Joe shares some of his shots from the Briggs Farm Blues Festival.

Of the experience Joe Rosen said, “I had the pleasure of attending the 15th Annual Briggs Farm Blues Festival last weekend. Great acts, great vibes, and a great location on a real-deal working farm! Acts included Chris Beard, Alexis P. Suter, Linsey Alexander, Eddie Clearwater, Mikey Jr., Lonnie Shields (who also was cooking up barbeque!), Clarence Spady, The CKS Band, Rory Block, The Butterfield Blues Band, Michael Packer, Moreland and Arbuckle, and Bernard Allison. A good time was had by all!! Hope you enjoy the pix!!!”
