VERY important point. Thanks so much for that. what others might see as a minor point in fact becomes extremely important to history geeks like me. If it was indeed St. Luis, would that have been primarily a residential area? If so, what kind? Any info?
I’m guessing that further research into the surrounding neighborhoods, etc, would yield some interesting information. Thanks very much for the correction.

Great research. Growing up and living in St. Louis for many years I was somewhat familiar with this story but not to this extent. BTW- the location is noted as East St. Louis which is not correct. East St. Louis is across the river in Illinois. The actual location was downtown St. Louis city in Missouri.
