Similar experience-I think I may still have that Hit Parader somewhere in my shed. The impact that Butterfield had on the surge of popularity of modern blues cannot be underestimated-Mellow Down Easy and the solo he rips still sends shivers up my spine!

Someone in 1965 gave me the LP, James Brown Live at the Apollo, that led to Bobby Bland, and then Muddy, Spann, Little Walter, Otis Rush, Magic Sam, Butterfield etc. Here it is 2013 and blues/R&B are still an important part of my life. Thanks for letting my mind drift back to that time.

I had a similar experience – used to read Hit Parader cover-to-cover. I’m sure that I read the same Butterfield review. From there, I dug deep and have spent untold thousands of dollars because of the interest that magazine created for me.

The Baird auditorium at the Natural History
Museum has provided a plethora of incredible music. I remember seeing Joe
Turner, Jimmy Fast Fingers Dawkins and Hank
