What is BluesWax?
I am proud to welcome you to the world of BluesWax, the largest blues publication in the world. Each week BluesWax brings the Blues World to your inbox. You will notice after a few issues that we don’t really consider BluesWax to be just another ezine (electronic magazine), we believe that we have the important responsibility of connecting the Blues World. We consider our readers to be members of a tribe, a really special tribe of people around the world connected by the beat of the blues. Again, welcome to the tribe! As I often say, it’s a great tribe and the meetings are excellent.BluesWax sent out its first issue in 2000, so we are into our second decade of being the online voice of the blues. We have put out well over 500 issues and attracted many thousands of blues fans. It has to be the best idea I ever had while sitting in my local blues club talking blues with my blues buddies! Each issue begins with the ezine, which you receive in your email each week. It usually features interviews with blues artists, but sometimes features important events like the Blues Music Awards. Then there is the Blues Bytes page, which also usually features interview, but it can be a little more varied, like reviews of important releases and essays from our writers, like our series looking at health care and musicians. On the Blues Beat page, we usually feature a review of a festival or show. Another favorite page is the BluesWax Photo Page. Each week we feature one of our photographers from around the world looking at a show, event, or festival. The best photographers in the blues grace our pages, many holding the highest awards for blues photography. And then there are the reviews. Each week we feature three reviews of recent blues releases. Since we keep three reviews up from the previous week, there are always six reviews posted on that page. All the features mentioned above are archived so you can read issue you might have missed. Recently we merged the BluesWax site with our sister publication, Blues Revue, the largest print magazine in the blues, to create the best site in the blues at www.bluesrevue.com. In the weeks to come we will be transferring the massive archives of BluesWax to the site which will make it the largest resource in the world for blues fans. And it will be completely searchable so you might find yourself spending hours on our site! And you will want to “favorite” that site because we are constantly updating the site with news and cool videos in our Juke Joint. Every Friday the Juke Joint is updated with the best blues videos we can find. It is one of the most popular things we do. We also regularly have contests and ways that you can win all kinds of blues prizes. So keep checking back!Blues Revue also sponsors some of the best blues festivals around the world. Festivals work hard to earn the right to have our name on their festivals and you can trust that if you see our name on it that you will have a good festival experience. Each year, in our March/April issue, we send our readers a directory of blues festivals around the world so you can plan your festival season. Like I said, the meetings are excellent! We already are hard at work on next week’s issue and there are many exciting things happening at BluesWax. We are proud to work for you and look forward to making the part of your life that is the blues the best it can be. We love to hear from you and the editorial staff discusses readers’ feedback. One cool thing about our new site is that you can enter your comments after each feature article and review. We look forward to hearing from you.So, again, welcome to the tribe. I look forward to seeing you in the future at one of the meetings along the blues trail. I look forward to hearing your blues story. Until then you can trust that we’ll send…Good Blues To Ya!Chip
